Never before has Kim Kardashian's presence started a riot, but just hours after the reality TV star gushed about her impressions of Bahrain, riot police were forced to fire tear gas to angry crowd. More than 50 hardline Islamic protesters had gathered to denounce the 31 years old's presence in the Gulf kingdom.

Kardashian was in Bahrain to promote a milkshake franchise on Saturday when Islamic protesters demonstrated with banners outside The Walk Bahrain, an upscale mall in the capital Manama. Bahraini protesters chanted slogans and displayed a large banner in Arabic, a banner that when translated reads: "none of our customs and traditions allow us to receive stars of porn movies."

In response to the angry protest, Bahrain riot police used stun grenades and tear gas to disperse the angry Islamic demonstrators.
In addition to the hundreds of angry Muslim demonstrators, however, were thousands of screaming Kardashian fans who had paid up to 500 Bahraini dinars ($1,360) a ticket to see the 32-year-old celebrity launch the Millions of Milkshakes franchise inside the mall.

Last week news of Kardashian’s Bahrain appearance had sparked anger among Islamist legislators, who submitted an urgent proposal at the end of Tuesday's parliamentary session, where they referred to Kardashian as "an actress with an extremely bad reputation". However, the proposal was dismissed, and Kardashian was allowed to make her appearance, despite the protests.
